Accreditation Status & Scope of Accreditation

CFSL, Hyderabad is the 1st Forensic Science Laboratory in the country, which got accreditation from National Accreditation Board for Testing & Calibration Laboratories (NABL) in 2001. The laboratory was conferred with this coveted status after stringent assessment by the expert team from NATA, Australia as per International standard based on ISO Guide 25 and NABL 113 specific guidelines for accreditation of Forensic Science Laboratories. The laboratory switched over to ISO/IEC-17025 in December 2003 and has been successfully getting re-assessment done every year and is continually maintaining accreditation status ever since.


CFSL, Hyderabad has been accredited in the field of forensic science with the following scope namely, Ballistics, Biology including Serology and DNA Profiling, Chemistry including Narcotics, Questioned Documents including Computer Forensics, Explosives, Physics and Toxicology.


Quality Control & Accreditation

Quality accreditation of a laboratory ensures proper quality management system of its activities and provides recognition of its technical competence.

The current Quality System practised by the laboratory is based on ISO/IEC 17025:2005 guidelines and is in the process of transforming to ISO/IEC 17025:2017.

The Laboratory participates in Inter Laboratory Comparison/Proficiency Testing program with other forensic science laboratories.

The Digital Forensic Division (NCFL-E) of CFSL, Hyderabad is one of the first Laboratory notified as Examiner of Electronic Evidence by MeitY under section 79A of Information technology Act.

The laboratory acts as a nodal agency in assisting the various forensic science laboratories in the country aspiring for NABL accreditation and Notification under 79A of IT Act.
